“The Thread” Lessons

  • Lesson 1– In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. – John 1:1.– Remember: We can see Jesus in all of Scripture. You can see Him in your world, too. Look around!
  • Lesson 2– All things were made through Jesus, and without him was not any thing made that was made. – John 1:3.– God willingly created you. He didn’t have to. That means He wants His world to have you in it. You’re valuable! Don’t forget it.
  • Lesson 3– “But where sin increased, grace increased all the more.” –Romans 5:20.– Just because we rebel against God doesn’t mean we can’t respond to His grace. How will God’s grace impact your choices this week?
  • Lesson 4– This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. – Matthew 26:28.–Have you stopped and thanked God today for the covenant Jesus made through His sacrifice?
  • Lesson 5– There is neither Jew nor Greek…neither slave nor free…no male & female…you are all one in Christ Jesus. – Gal. 3:28.– Remember: You’re a part of God’s family through the power of the Gospel. Live like God’s child this week!
  • Lesson 6– For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16.– God’s faithfulness to provide for you is worth sacrificing everything! Don’t forget this as you go through your week.
  • Lesson 7– And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28.– During prayer this week, pause & remind yourself that God’s Holy Spirit speaks directly to God on your behalf. Awesome, right!?
  • Lesson 8– “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” – Mt. 5:10.– Pray for believers around the world suffering for their faith. Remember, the Gospel changes the economy of suffering!
  • Lesson 9-“I will be with you.” – Ex. 3:12.– Are you praying for your friends you listed in our study? Any cool stories about how God has used you in their lives?
  • Lesson 10– And the next day the Lord did it: All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died. – Ex 9:6.– This week we talked about how God goes out of His way to protect His people. How is God protecting you this week?
  • Lesson 11-“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” – Ex. 14:14.– The Red Sea wasn’t God’s greatest act of salvation. He drove apart sin forever when He sent Jesus to die for us. #boom
  • Lesson 12– For the grace of God has appeared, brining salvation for all people. – Titus 2:11.– Our good works aren’t supposed to be a burden. They’re an overflow of God’s grace in our life. Share this with someone this week!
  • Lesson 13– Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” – Josh. 3:5 –God was faithful to the Israelites. And He is being faithful to you each and every day! Thank Him for it.
  • Lesson 14– And how are they to hear without someone preaching? – Rom. 10:14 —: Is your generation & the ones after you going to know about the Lord? What are you going to do to make sure of it?
  • Lesson 15– “Praise be to the LORD, who this day has not left you without a redeemer.” – Ruth 4:14: Jesus redeemed you by dying on the cross because you were worth it. How will you remember to be grateful to God this week?
  • Lesson 16- “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” – Rom. 12:2: Remember, when the world distracts you that you can always ask the Lord for help! He is our King!
  • Lesson 17- “For the Lord sees not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Sam 16:7: Remember: Inward character > outward appearance!
  • Lesson 18- “Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied, “The Lord has taken away your sin.”” 2 Sam. 12:13-14: Remember: Even the strongest person can fall into sin’s trap. Thank Jesus that His blood covers all your sins!
  • Lesson 19- “I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep, and my sheep know me.” – John 10:14–Pause this week and remind yourself how God has provided, protected, and given direction in your life.
  • Lesson 20- “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word.” – John 14:24–Do you feel like you’ve obeyed God this week? What’s your motivation looked like?
  • Lesson 21- “Come to me…and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28– Do you have any burdens you still need to give over to Jesus? How are you walking in His yoke today?
  • Lesson 22- “And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” – Jer. 31:33–This week we talked about how God is gracious with us and gives us many chances. How might you be gracious with others this week?
  • Lesson 23- “You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. “– Romans 5:6–Are you living out the right response we talked about at the end of the lesson this week?
  • Lesson 24- “For he has rescued us from the domain of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.” – Col. 1:13–Don’t miss the devos this week. They’ll remind you to examine how you trust Jesus on a daily basis.
  • Lesson 25– “He will wipe every tear from their eyes … for the old order of things has passed away.” – Rev. 21:4– I know it can be hard to remember your devotions every day, but it’s worth it!
  • Lesson 26– “And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Is. 9:6–Staying close to God by reading the Bible is crucial. Don’t forget to make time for your Thread devotions this week.
  • Lesson 27– “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12–Making time to meet God in His Word is vital! Don’t forget to do so this week.
  • lesson 28- “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:21–When John baptized Jesus it was a big deal. Isn’t it great to know how thoroughly Jesus cares for and loves you?
  • Lesson 29- “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” – Hebrews 4:16 — God is 100% reliable. God is full of grace. As you face temptation, remind yourself of His love.
  • Lesson 30- And He said to them, “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.” – Matt. 4:19 — Have you shared your three simple truths yet? Someone you know needs to hear it!
  • Lesson 31- “Son, your sins are forgiven.” – Mark 2:5 — The entire record of your debt has been nailed to the cross! Live in the light of that truth this week!
  • Lesson 32- “For by him all things were created . . .” – Col. 1:16 — This week we talked about one of Jesus’s miracles. Take time to find some more of His miracles in the Bible.
  • Lesson 33- Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:16– Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:16
  • Lesson 34- For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. – Luke 15:24– How are you becoming more in awe of what Jesus has done for you so that it impacts how you view all His children?
  • Lesson 35- “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” –John 14:6– Jesus knows what we’re going through, but He’s also provided for our biggest need—eternal life—by giving Himself to pay for it.
  • Lesson 36- But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. – 1 John 2:1– What does it mean that Jesus atoned for your sins?  Reflect on that today.
  • Lesson 37- “Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” Matt. 26:39– Life lessons from this week’s class: 1) Don’t get arrested. 2) Be thankful it was God’s will for Jesus to be arrested.
  • Lesson 38- For the joy set before him he endured the cross . . .  – Hebrews 12:2– Where are you going this week that will require you to depend on Jesus for endurance?
  • Lesson 39- In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. – Romans 6:11– Jesus defeated death by dying and being raised from the dead! #mindblown
  • Lesson 40- “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations . . .” Matt. 28:19-20– You have gone back out into the world. How are you doing with the Great Commission this week?
  • Lesson 41- “It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you.” – John 16:7– Are you plugged in to your devotions this week? That is one way to connect to your spiritual GPS.
  • Lesson 42- And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. – Acts 2:47– Staying close to God by reading the Bible is crucial. Don’t forget to make time for your devotions this week.
  • Lesson 43- “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33– We can’t take heart in Jesus’ promises if we’re not spending time reading them. Don’t miss your devotions this week!
  • Lesson 44- “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.” – Eph. 2:10–Be sure to look at your paper this week and pray about being on mission wherever the Lord has placed you!
  • Lesson 45– “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” –Romans 6:23–God’s gift of eternal life is free. Accepting that gift means it will show up in our lives. How will it show in your life this week?
  • Lesson 46– He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. – Col. 1:15–Think about your own relationship with Christ. He loves you no matter what.
  • Lesson 47-“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14– How are you using your influence so far this week? Are you pointing people to Jesus or pushing them away? 
  • Lesson 48– And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. – Heb. 10:24–  Who are you going to encourage today? How will you do it and what will you say? Go for it!
  • Lesson 49– Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. -1 John 3:18– Put your faith to work: remember to love the most unlovable this week.
  • Lesson 50– Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. -1 John 4:8– Loving people can be hard. Remember what God did for you on the cross. Go ahead and give some of that underserved love away!
  • Lesson 51– “Fear not, I am the first and the last.” – Jesus (Revelation 1:17)–Who is Jesus to you? Savior and Lord or something else?
  • Lesson 52– “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” – 2 Cor 5:17–This week we talked about how God has a habit of making things new. Look around you for an example!
